2021.12.04 11:03 adultingadolescenttt my poodle “bullies” my shihtzu every single day between 5:30-6:00 pm (dinner time)

this has been happening for approx. 1.5 years. poodle would chase shihtzu around and tug on her ears, her neck, etc. i know that poodle only wants to play, but most of the time shihtzu is never in the mood to play and that’s why i used the term “bullying”.
it’s all just fun and games and none of my pups are hurt but i’m just curious as to why it always happens specifically between 5:30-6:00 pm

2021.12.04 11:03 elPrimeraPison How I went form loathing math to almost getting a degree in math

[So in a different sub reddit someone asked how he can get better at math, and how to not fail his math class. I commented this stream of conscientiousness long essay about how I got better, and what math ended up meaning to me, and how I almost got a degree in it. Kind ended up giving him my life story, which went beyond the scope of the post. Anyways it didn't get a whole lot of attention so I though I would post it here, (its edited a little, and I added stuff). I rambled a little, so hopefully its not to hard to keep up. ]

Growing up I was always thought to believe I was bad at math. I barely got through hs. It was a combo of not seeing the point in it, not caring about school, and negative reinforcement plus I had a lot of issues at home. TBH, my mom was also telling me how bad I was at it. I had this one teacher that never smiled, always this natural face, you could just tell she hated her job. I even had to withdrawal from stats senior yr, which meant that I got a standard diploma instead of an advanced(which makes no real diff).
All through out my public education(k-12) I was in some form of special ed(started to phase out of it in 9th). And in the US they kind of just shove all the kids with learning disables and the ones with behavior problems together(more or less). Now the U.S. is notorious for having an easy education system that requires min effort. Special ed is even easier and they don't really expect much of you. I was treated like I was slow, I wasn't challenged like I should have been and it made me feel stupid, plus it just isolates certain kids. Some people really need these programs(or at least similar programs with better structure), and I do have adhd and had behavioral problems, I still was not one of the kids that needed that much help.
My first few years of college were rough. I couldn't get into a reg 4 yr so I had to go to community college(not that there's anything wrong with cc). So at this point anything steam related was off the table, due the fact that I was bad at math. I avoid taking any math class for awhile. I began to think I would never finish cc, and I would never be able to transfer.
Long story- I ended up changing to CS, bc I am insane. I got into precalc, luckily I didn't have to take any remedials. (So I wasn't absolutely horrible, just not great. )
My cc had 2 for precalc, option 1 was a 2 parter 6 credits in total (algebra 2 + then trig and eclipse +) or one class that was both parts merged together(5 credits). I decided to take the five credit course thinking it would be cheaper and faster. I failed 2x(to my credit the second time was over the summer). I had gaps in my knowledge, and at this point in time wasn't really ready for school. Lots of personal issues, its a lot more fun to get drunk and high then it is to study. Also in hs I didn't learn how to study, b.c I didn't have to try, and didn't care.
At this point- I decided to change my approach and took the 2part sequence. And ended up getting an A and B respectively. [This is a lot to explain], the massive over simplification story ~ I had been through a lot and had gone through a life altering event. I had gotten sober, and cut off a lot of toxic ppl . I started to think more about the future, and wanting more) I started to think maybe I could do better, and I put more effort into studying. I had been working shitty jobs, that I absolutely hated, and did not want to do that for the rest of my life. And I just found motivation.
This was the summer I took part 1. I had already seen this 2x round + most of it was what I was doing in hs so really 3x. (also got straight As that summer). I have learning disabilities so I generally have to hear things at least 3 times before they start to click. And the way a lot of prof/teachers teach just doesn't work for me. I always have to go out and find videos or other resources, also this is when I really learned to how utilize the available resources my college provides. So it just takes me longer to learn things, and it doesn't always feel worth it. Part 2 was a lot more challenging, the prof wasn't that great. Then failed calc and had to retake it, it was all new to me and I am not a good test tacker. Retook it over the summer got an A, and moved to calc 2.
Here is where I met one of the most influential prof I have ever had. He was a little crazy(always making jokes, and getting off track), and at the time I didn't like him very much( partly bc it was a math class not a comedy club, but he was really funny)
TBH I borderline failed all test, but we had hws and computer projects that I got 100+s so I had extra credit, and some how ended up with a B. I also went to his office hours a lot, which a lot of times he didn't show up to, even though he was supposed to be there. I would just keep coming until he was there. One time I asked him how to do better in school, his advice - he asked me if there was anything I liked to do in my free time and gave me an anecdote. Cleaning guns was calming to him, and whenever he as stressed he would just clean his gun over and over. The point was you need something else, something you enjoy or relaxes you, to take the stress off so you're not constantly worrying about a grade.
I should mention, I was really exhausted of cs, profs are worse(whole national issue look into it), and its just a tough subject. I started to see math differently. Instead of this scary pointless subject that I sucked at and was a lot of effort, I saw at as a story of how I progressed, and grew and struggled and continued despite short coming after (..). I learned what it can be applied to, and how cool/trippy it can be. I began to love math in some respect, although I still wasn't the biggest fan of it either. I talked to this prof about why he chose math. And he was just ok at it, but he hated writing so he just choice what he hated the least. And this is how you know I am out of mind - I got my associates in cs, but transferred to 4yr for math.
4 yr was a lot harder. Differential and Linear was a big headache. I went to the tutoring center so much that all the tutors knew me. However, I took this intro to proof class, and everyone hates that class, but it was honestly the easiest math I have ever taken. And the prof was super encouraging, I mean I just loved everything about it. One of my fave classes I have taken(got an A). Still have setbacks,(like covid) and still struggle a lot. but I learned to interrupt them differently and view the bigger picture, and keep going towards my a goal.
Once I got to analysis I was done. I was like this is too much, and pointless, and switched back to CS. I have had a lot of cs classes that were secretly math class. Algorithms for one. But now I work for my uni as a math tutor, and help struggling students. I am around it pretty much 5 days a week. Certain things make more sense to me now that I've learned and concepts yet another time around and had to teach them. I work with math grad students, and love watching them do math I don't quite understand. Plus, its a lot easier to retain now that there is no stress of a grade. Math changed for me. It went from this rep of how stupid I was, to home. And now I'm think about going to grad school for math, and even possible teaching math at community college.
**So to actually answer your question,

  1. the person teaching the subject makes a world of difference. Not only in how they shape your view of yourself but how they get the info across, and how they structure the class. And its important to realize this, and drop if that prof/ class isn't right for you. Although a bad prof blames the student and a bad student blames the professor.
  2. Make sure to use available resources. A lot of the students that are doing the worst don't come to office hours, or seek out help. And get accommodations if possible
  3. This is the hardest. Reflect, learn, and change your behavior. Think about what went wrong. Did you not study enough? Did you have a heard time understand your prof? Whatever the reason, do something differently.
  4. Do your homework, this can make an insane difference. Yeah it sucks that there's just piles and piles of it, and a lot of the time each induvial assignment is like .0001% of your grade. But that overall 20% makes a difference. Also on the test you'll be more likly to know how to do stuff
  5. understand why your learning this in the first place, spend time understanding the applications and why the math is helpful.
  6. And have some kind of stress relief
  7. view this class or the next class as just a part of your path, maybe you will fail(hopefully not), which will suck, but it wont be the end the world. Its honestly better to fail, than to pass without learn anything. So don't stress to much Have some kind of goal in mind
  8. Go to class, talk to your professor, show that you care.
Side note- If you don't how US colleges work- During senior year of HS students apply to regular college(know as 4-year university), and either get accepted or not. Community college is a massively cheaper option that anyone can get into. There are lots of diff programs offered at cc. Its good for students wanting a cheaper option, various types of continued education, or guaranteed admissions(which is what I did). So the GAA means you spend the first 2 yrs of school at CC and get an associates. If you meet certain complex set of requirements like GPA, then you can transfer to certain school. All schools have diff agreements. (Some students will do it if they really really want to go to specific school.) Then you spend the last 2 yrs at a 4 year university)( this is a lot more complicated then they tell you )
A lot of the reason why I did so poorly at the beggaring of community college, was that I just had no idea what I was doing. I did not know what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go. I was just kinda going to school to go to school. (that and a lot of voice in the past telling me how dumb I was, plus working 40+ a week to pay for it) Once I started to have some kind of vague idea of what I wanted to do it got a lot easier. And tbh I only really struggled in steam classes.

2021.12.04 11:03 seriouslydavka Is ideal Nardil dose always calculated by person weight?

I see a lot of folks calculating their idea Nardil dose based on their physical weight. Is that always the way to do it or just a general rule of thumb that helps? I’m 120lbs but I almost always tend to need higher doses of medications. I’m on Nardil 30mg + Parnate 20mg. I’m considering going off Parnate to see how just Nardil works for me. Is there an ideal dose I should shoot for based on my weight? And can I go above the dose if not getting adequate results?
Unrelated, what have you found to be the best adjuncts for Nardil? I have depression and social/general anxiety with the main features being avoidance, lack of motivation, and anhedonia.

2021.12.04 11:03 Kryshim Solving all of these Kayle is OP posts

Kayle is hypercarry by design. She needs levels and items to be good.
Remember, pre lvl 5 she is a melee champ with the stats of a ranged champ. Engage on top of her and she just dies. Slow push the lane, crash a huge ass wave into tower, and dive her. Lvl 5 onward you still have the opportunity to kill her, you just have to play it a little smarter. Never give her a chance to farm safely. Always rotate to the lane she is in and put her on the grey screen. As a hypercarry, she needs both levels and items to be effective. Deny her farm since it’s not really possible to deny her levels
